United Business Centres Recycle For Charity

United Business Centres (UBC) in Stansted have started recycling for Cancer Research UK. Staff at the business centre have begun collecting empty ink toner cartridges from UBC’s client occupiers and recycling them each month, with all the proceeds going directly to Cancer Research UK. Leanna Dileva, acting Centre Manager, said: “We have all known sufferers of cancer and we feel that the great work of Cancer Research UK deserves our support.   We also actively promote a green approach to our business and by encouraging our customers to recycle we can also help charities to benefit.”   UBC also aims to encourage eco friendly modes of transport to the new centre by offering secure bicycle storage and shower and changing facilities.

What UBC are offering here is fantastic and without taking away from the company’s good work i have to point out that this type of scheme is not a difficult concept and that this sort of thing should really be the norm now rather than something that we feel should be praised as a great effort. Although i am in full support of such environmentally friendly ideas and it is important that these sort of steps are seen in a positive light, i look forward to a time when they are so common that we no longer feel the need for them to be news worthy.
