United Business Centres (UBC) plc announced today that expanding online marketing agency dotMailer has chosen UBC Manchester as the location for its first Northern branch office. Avanta have started preparations to redevelop a grade II listed building into serviced offices in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Called The Turquoise Buildings, the regeneration programme is being overseen by Manchester based architects Makin Architecture. Commenting on the project Andrew Burns, Managing Director at Makin said “Avanta plans to tap into the demand for flexible accommodation for media, art and design-based businesses within the Northern Quarter.” Avanta currently have a business centre in Manchester which is due to open soon, located within the Ancoats Urban Village the offices are just half a mile away from their latest project.
DBH Serviced Business Centres have opened a centre in Ellesmere Port. The three story centre in Cheshire is located on the Pioneer Business Park and has great access to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. With office space from just one workstation up to a whole floor, whatever your business requires you will be able to find it here. Avanta have opened a new business centre in a former mill in Manchester. Situated in the Ancoats area of the city, Royal Mills was built between 1798 and 1806 and has now been converted into office space, residential flats and there are plans for a boutique hotel on the same site. The listed building has managed to retain many original features that include exposed brickwork, whilst at the same time modern features such as wi-fi have been installed.
Colin Peacock the MD of Stonemartin has resigned from the company. The move follows on from news that the company has put it’s acquisitions programme on hold for the “short to medium term”. The business will now be managed by the sales and marketing director Tim Worboys and chief operating officer Graham Ede.
Stonemartin currently operate four business centres in the UK; Birmingham, London, Manchester & Reading
Bruntwood, the office space provider, are aiming for an increase in the number of serviced office workstations that they provide. They currently have 1500 workstations in the north of England and by 2009 they plan to increase that number to 2200. The new offices will build on their knowledge of the northern business market. Bruntwood currently have business centres in Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester.
Manchester’s largest office building is set to ‘Top Out’ today in a ceremony to mark the tightening of the final bolt in the 350,000 sq ft development. 3 Hardman Street is comprised of three ‘stepped’ buildings rising from eleven to fourteen storeys high in the Spinningfields commercial district and is due to open in October 2008. Regus have leased 17,500 sq ft of space for a serviced office in the landmark building.
