Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has today started legal action against Regus and it’s CEO Mark Dixon. This recent development follows on from a disagreement between the two men about a meeting that was held between them regarding the Easy Groups entry into the serviced office market. Sir Stelios commented “I was called a liar to a publication I respect hugely and one that is very important in my business career. This is unacceptable to me and I have decided to take this legal step to clear my name and my reputation in the City.” Regus have declined to comment.

A new website marketing office space in Dubai and serviced offices in Dubai has been launched by leading office space broker Easyoffices.com. The site will be dedicated to the Dubai market and will be marketed under www.servicedoffices-dubai.com.
The Dubai site should not be confused with reports last year of EasyOffice, the latest Easy Group offering from Sir Stelios, opening a serviced office in Dubai. Some stories were misleading such as the Choregus’ release saying that Easy Offices were opening in Dubai. Easy Offices say they will be rolling out a number of localised international sites over the next month.
Sir Stelios Hajiloannou has accused Regus of not complying with corporate governance rules and has written to the UK Shareholders Association to highlight his concerns. Sir Stelios claims that only two out of seven directors could be classed as independent and wants action to be taken against the serviced office provider. Despite the potential problems, Regus have announced that revenues for the first four months of the year are up by 24% to £334.5m with workstations up by 5.2% to 149,974 compared with the same period in 2007.
Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has fanned the flames of his argument with Mark Dixon and Regus by trying to get his rivals membership removed to the Monaco Yacht Club. Sir Stelios originally put Mr Dixon’s name forward to the club but has now written to them to ask them to remove him altogether. This is the latest stage of an ongoing clash between the entrepreneurs who are arguing about a meeting that was held between the two men regarding the Easygroup’s entry into the serviced office market. They both have different versions of the events with Sir Stelios claiming that Mr Dixon stole his ideas when Regus bought into the serviced office broker EasyOffices.com, a claim that Regus strongly deny. The conflict is likely to go on for some time to come with neither side willing to back down.
